ha, i laugh at the insinuations of your comment...cl a p t o n did not do anything for jj cale...that man made his own legacy, made his own story, and purposely eschewed the limelight... c l a p t o n just paid homage in a very honorable way by covering songs that he liked, that's all. and while jj may be gettin royalties on his material, it's not like he needs those royalties. you make it sound like he owes clapton something - this would be a foolish sentiment to express.
Boy did eric clapton ever revive this guys soul by bringing it back along with "Cocanine". How bout the royalties that J J Cale racked in because of what clapton did for him. What a great story of life huh?
