Joe Purdy, a singer/songwriter from Arkansas, put in his time working at a loading dock and as a counselor at a private high school before his song "Wash Away" became synonymous with the 2004 season of ABC's Lost. Purdy left Arkansas for California in 2001, where he learned how to play the piano and began writing songs. He went on to record several homemade albums, breaking into the L.A. music scene with 2003's StompinGrounds. It was around this time that Purdy was contacted by J.J. Abrams, the executive producer of Lost, who asked Purdy to write a song for the show. Purdy, who at the time was visiting an island on a river in upstate New York, wrote "Wash Away," which went on to chart in the Top 25 on the iTunes country charts. The album that featured the song, Julie Blue, was released in 2004. Only Four Seasons followed it up two years later. ~ Margaret Reges, Rovi
This is a very great artist live and almost always picks other good artists to play with! I will always go see Joe within driving distance and only hope to hear more of his good-good string playin and singing soon!
OK. I reset my parameters and I am giving Joe another listen. I'm liking it, but we'll see if Pandora tries to cram him down my throat every half hour. @ Lauren Barr, I had the aforementioned overdose on my Josh Ritter station. He just came up on my Mumford station, so we'll see.
How can anyone not like this guy? Incredible song writing range. In a class with Josh Ritter, Alexi Murdoch, et.al. as uber-talented / under-recognized. Apparently too good to be covered by mainline media.
To prove my point, I posted the previous comment 24 minutes ago. Pandora just played another track by this guy and I'm out of skips. I thought two thumbs downs were supposed to remove someone.

I am really getting sick of this guy. Sorry Ben - I am not really a hater. I liked him well enough. I blame this on Pandora playing one of his songs every thirty minutes. So now I must give him the downthumb whenever I hear him.
Joe Purdy is great and is from Arkansas which makes even more authentic! This music literally got me up and down Mt. Everest on a recent trip to Nepal.
Joe Purdy is awesome i love his voice and his words!!! just great music. I have turns many of my friends on to him!!!
