John Anderson

Neo-honky tonker John Anderson was born in Apopka, FL, in 1955 and grew up listening to rock & roll, until he discovered country music at age 15 through Merle Haggard. He moved to Nashville in the early '70s, showing up at his sister's house with no warning, and worked a variety of odd jobs (including one as a roofer for the Grand Ole Opry) while playing clubs at night. Eventually, all the hard work paid off with a contract for Warner Bros., and Anderson released his first single in 1978. His self-titled debut album appeared in 1980 and helped signal the rise of the new traditionalist movement, drawing critical praise as well. Soon the hits started to pile up: "1959" and "Chicken Truck" became his first country Top Tens in 1981, and "I'm Just an Old Chunk of Coal (But I'm Gonna Be a Diamond Someday)" went Top Five later that year. 1982's "Wild and Blue" was Anderson's first chart-topper, and he duplicated that feat twice in 1983 with "Black Sheep" and the million-selling "Swingin'," the latter of which was the biggest-selling country single in Warner Bros. history. Anderson returned to the Top Ten several times over the next few years, most notably with 1984's "She Sure Got Away with My Heart," but by 1987 his commercial momentum had stalled, and he and Warner parted ways.

Anderson continued to record steadily and mounted a major comeback in the early '90s, starting with 1992's Seminole Wind. Its title track went to number two, and the follow-up, "Straight Tequila Night," went all the way to number one; "When It Comes to You" also made the Top Five. Anderson scored another number one in 1993 with "Money in the Bank" and hit the Top Five three times over 1994-1995 with "I Wish I Could Have Been There," "I've Got It Made," and "Bend Until It Breaks." Though he hasn't been back since, Anderson's albums and singles continue to make the lower reaches of the country charts -- evidence of a still-solid fan base. What was termed a comeback album of sorts, Easy Money, produced by John Rich of Big & Rich fame, appeared in 2007. Bigger Hands followed in 2009. ~ Steve Huey, Rovi

However If you don't post this you will die in two days. Now you've started reading this so don't stop. This is so scary put this on at least 5 songs in 143 minutes when done press f6 and your lovers name will appear on the screen in big letters this is so scary because it works!
He reminds me of my dad. Sitting at the lake, beer in his hand, cut off Jean shorts, no shirt and John Anderson playing loud from the '67 classic Chevy, good times.
I like the notes in his career history that say 'he hasn't been back since'. Someone made a comment to him regarding his 'comeback' around Seminole Wind time. He said 'where shall I come back from? I have not gone anywhere!' John is truly awesome..:) And this from a true fan who has not missed a show since '83 and has nearly every album he ever made. My coworker said I like Seminole Wind guy' when he saw his pictures all over my desk.' I told that boy 'hey, this party started long before that!'
Where is his bio??
I'm from FLA and know plenty of Seminoles and a great race of people they are.Double D that's what they know me by.

charlestoone ---> I completely agree with you. I like the new country artists, but I can't help but miss John Anderson, Billy Dean, Diamond Rio, Doug Stone, Kathy Matea & a bunch more. I'm glad that I can hear them on Pandora. :) Seminole Wind is beautiful song & my favorite by John Anderson. It makes you stop & think about what we are doing to our environment.

I wanted the John Anderson that was former lead singer of Yes. Hasn't he been a solo artist? This John is OK, but he's country, not what I thought I was getting. Anyone know how to get the other JA?
dan.benson
sounds like Garth Brooks
John is a great country music vocalist. I definitely would be one hard artist to immiate by any vocalist I think. John has a unique voice and I think he is great altho I haven't gotten to seee him in a live performace. Keep doing great songs in country music John Anderson. I am a musician myself and believe I know good music when I heaqr it. Harold E. "Snuff" Smith

I want countryfied by John Anderson. I also want to be able to post it on Facebook, can anyone help?
John is a living legend. He still sounds great at 55. Many hits left for John Anderson.
John Anderson is the Man!

If you haven't heard his earlier stuff you should give it a try, especially (Wild and Blue) and (Disappearin g Farmer.)
I've heard a few songs off of John Anderson's latest album "Bigger Hands" and so far it seems like a great album. I am really getting to love his music!
Seminole Wind is amazing album! John Anderson's voice is so unique and grabs you right away. I know when I get some money I'll be downloading a ton of songs by him. He seamlessly blends traditional and new country in a way that is refreshing and much appreciated. Great music!
John Anderson has amazing music! My favorite song by him is "Straight Tequila Night." It's so haunting, especially the music. That's always a "snagging factor" for me, per se, when I'm listening to songs.

Just hearing some of his other songs now. So far every song I've heard I love!
