Junior Reid

Junior Reid found himself in a difficult spot when he joined Black Uhuru in 1986. He replaced Michael Rose, who had become quite popular as a longtime Uhuru contributor. Though essentially a good vocalist, Reid's style was so close to Rose's that he didn't establish his own identity. The group also suffered compositional difficulties and personal crisis during Reid's tenure. Puma Jones left and was replaced by Olafunke. They also didn't always get quality material or support from Sly and Robbie during this period. Reid departed in 1990 and began struggling as a solo artist to fulfill his considerable potential, with releases like 1991's Long Road, 1993's Big Timer, and 1996's Listen to the Voices. ~ Ron Wynn, Rovi

Junior Reid singing Eleanor Rigby is equal to Albert Griffiths and the Gladiators doing Small Axe.

Jr. Reid is truly a living legend, seen. ihi yahn ihi have had the great blessing to break bread with Jr. Reid several times.Rastaf a r i to the fullest. His voice echoes the pain and toughness of the kingston ghettos with a sweet angelic flow. Nuff said. Bless up One Blood Family
i don't like this bio...its very very limited and seemingly bias...junio r is roots rock reggae in the purist form....last l y . . a r t i s t s ALLEGED activities outside of the studio should not even be discussed in this forum simply because even bob marley himself was guilty of some pretty profound exploits in his trenchtown rude boy days pre rastafari... s o please hold that down..sizzla in fact DOES belong on the list of some of the greatest roots artists probably the most versatile roots artist ever
I love me some Junior Reid...

Sizzla is responsible for a lot of the illegal guns on the streets in Jamaica,he should use his influence to help build up the youth instead of helping to destroy one of the world's best islands..Jah have mercy on him and us come judgment day

Junior Reid is one of the best artists along with Dennis Brown who is under appreciated! his album a few years back 2006? Emmanuele Calling is a hot new album that shows his ability to use newer hip hop sylye beats while still remaining true to his roots, even has a great song feat. busta Rrymes called "john Law". Jr. Reid is so diverse with his skills and people he choses to work with while remaining solid as a rock. ONE BLOOD Forever Peace...Marc u s .

I really wish Pandora had Emmanuel Calling. One of my fave albums.
This synopsis is Anti-junior Reid. Junior Reid was once produced by Hugh Mundell, another legend that doesn't get the credit he is due. Junior Reid has brought the Hip-Hop and Dancehall reggae community together. he has mentored many and has survived the changes in the industry without losing his true Rastafarian identity. I recently heard him on a CD with Tenor Saw, Frankie Paul, Sugar Minott and Wayne Smith. The above writer is not only uninformed, he is being disrespectfu l of a true reggae I-
ischlink, that is an ignorant statement. Andrew Bees was a BU front man. Junior Reid is a reggae legend. Don Carlos is as well, and pry has a bit more clout in tha biz, but Black Uhuru with DC was ok but I cant think of 1 song that was a memorable Black Uhuru tune.
mccartygm619
The bio of this artist does not do him justice. It should be rewritten
Blessed to been front row to Junior Reid perform "One Blood" at HoodShock in Harlem years ago, I was also fortunate enough to have been invited to his studio in L.A. and kicked rhymes with one of his D.J.'s. Mr. Reid had to go handle his biz, but before he left, he hooked me up with a delicious plate of ital food and some of his latest CD's, including Tribute to Grammy, his late brother. Nuff Love and Respect to this righteous man!

GREAT PERFORMER!!!
Under this lineup (Rose, Simpson and Jones), with Sly & Robbie as producers (and also permanently employed on drum and bass), they released the band's most popular albums: Sinsemilla, Red, Chill Out, and the Grammy-winni n g Anthem. Junior Reid is considered the least influential front man Black Uhuru ever had.
strange thing is one of the best song he as ever made. I want new styley

For Great Train Robbery
Didn't Black Uhuru win a grammy when Jr Reid was the lead vocalist? I don't know that for a fact but if it is true, it is worth mentioning in his blurb!
JR. REID....SHOU L D GET MORE PROPS THAN HE DOES....THIS IS CONSCIENCE BROTHER....O N L Y JAH KNOWS THIS.....ONE BLOOD JR....JAH BLESSING ALWAYS...I THINK HE'S GETTING A BAD RAP...MAJ1
