Julee Cruise was the talent scout for composer Angelo Badalamenti when he was working on David Lynch's film Blue Velvet in 1985. Badalamenti discovered that her airy voice fit a song for the film, so she wound up recording "Mysteries of Love" for the soundtrack. Three years later, she released her first album, Floating into the Night, which featured music by Badalamenti and lyrics by Lynch. Three tracks from the record made it onto the soundtrack to Lynch's television series Twin Peaks, including the series' theme song, "Falling." Cruise had a bit part in the series. She released her second album, Voice of Love, in 1993.
Later in the decade she covered the Elvis Presley song "Summer Kisses, Winter Tears" for Wim Wenders' movie Until the End of the World, and featured on the soundtrack to Scream. Cruise also appeared in several stage productions and toured with the B-52's (as a replacement for Cindy Wilson). She also featured with a host of dance acts, including Moby, Hybrid, and Delerium. Still, nearly ten years separated Voice of Love from her third solo album, 2002's The Art of Being a Girl. ~ Stephen Thomas Erlewine, Rovi
Twin Peaks. Julee will forever be known as the Twin Peaks singer. But that's not necessarily a bad legacy to leave behind. (Hey, if anyone disagrees with this assessment, do your homework by talking to folks who know nothing of Cruise but are familiar with her music.)

I watched the first season of Twin Peaks again recently on DVD. What a great series. The backward scene with the dwarf was extraordinary.
ANYONE WHO DOESN'T OWN JULEE'S FIRST ALBUM "FLOATING INTO THE NIGHT" IS MISSING ONE OF THE MOST PERFECT COLLECTION OF SONGS, "THE WORLD SPINS" CAN MOVE ANYONE TO TEARS. SHE IS AN INCREDIBLE DIVA, ONE OF THE BEST OF OUR LIFETIME, ANY LIFETIME. TURN OFF THE LIGHTS, PUT THIS CD ON AND FEEL YOUR SENSES TINGLE.
This music is so wonderful... perfect for soaking in a hot bath and just melting the busy day off.

Floating Into The Night is trul yone of the greatest albums ever created. It's so moody and inspiring, even in the melancholy moments. Listening to it in the darkness is one of the most amazing journeys through sound you can ever take. her voice is a gift from the gods and the strange edge fits it perfectly. It's timeless and classic.
Cliffy, nothing wrong with that. One of my fav's as well. But, my gripe is with Pandora's strange offerings... after playing about eight meloncholy female vocalists in a row, all of a sudden they played a dozen male-acoustic-guitar artists. What gives? When i was a radio DJ, I would have lost my job for botching the line-up in such a way.

The question remains: why??
Her music perfectly complimented the absurd Lynch film and television series.
