On a warm summer's evenin' on a train bound for nowhere, I met up with the gambler; we were both too tired to sleep. So we took turns a starin' out the window at the darkness 'Til boredom overtook us, and he began to speak.

This song was my Daddy all the way. Daddy I miss you but I will always have the memory. This in my opinion is one of Kenny Rogers best songs. Nice timing Pnadora.
When it says "The Gambler, He Broke Even"., does that mean he died? That's how I take it, but I'm not sure if that's what it's supposed to mean or not. Great song. No doubt about that.

Been one of my favorites since the first time I heard it. He puts it across perfectly.
With his smooth yet gruff voice giving the advice you can almost see the gambler in that boxcar. I think some of the best praise for a song or artist is that when you hear that song you believe it.

He sings of one of the Great Truths. One all should listen to.
