Early Greg Lake ..... Fantastic vocals!
Michael Giles is the most underrated drummer in rock history.
very underrated band and tune
This song is good, but that music period pales in comparison to todays rock. Bands like this could never touch 'Nickelback' , 'Foo Fighters' or John Mayer. ATTN: BITTER SARCASM IN USE:D
Awesome...
First heard this in 1978, timeless!
Absolutely one of my favorites, saw them live twice, fantastic!!! ! !
Very underrated band
Burn one for me
Ignore works like this at your own peril. It is that good. It's timelessness will cause it to be studied it years after we are all gone. Not all music will do this. Peace.
All these comments are dead on. One if the most epic, all absorbing songs ever written. Fripp is an absolute genius.
Epic: Majestic and Ominous at the same time. This is the power of music. Peace.
Not only is this one of the best albums of its time , The cover art is some of the best also.
Such an amazing and haunting song. Agree that it is an epic masterpiece. Still resonates today, Asia does it live and it was in the great movie Children of Men. Let's all be grateful as nothing really compares to it.

Never gets old. At least in my lifetime. I've been hooked on this album since the original LP was released.
Fond college memories to this masterpiece. Liam
When people ask me why I insist on living in the past, I give them examples like this song. Compare this to ANY song written after the year 2000. I'll bet there aren't 5 in the world that would measure up to this masterpiece.

This cut came up in my EL&P station, along with some YES and "real" Genesis pre-80s. This cut takes me back to the black-light poster days of my youth.
Classic Mellotron.
Love it.
The opening of this song made the hairs on the back of my neck stand up when Asia covered this song last summer in concert. I can't remember the last time that happened.
Absolutely incredible.
I still remember when I first heard this. I thought, "How could anyone have come up with a song like this?"
Great song, wonderful lyrics and music. This was made in Rock's finest hour.
I.T.C.O.T.C. K . . . . s u b t i t l e : Greg goes to the dentist!!!.. . . A H H H H H H H H H H
Brighthue, I was about the same age. It always seemed hauntingly sad in a way, but LOVED it, and still do!!!
Ahhhhhhhhhhh h . . . t h e Court of the Crimson King...melod i o u s . . . . m a j e s t i c and pure....a style that is long gone....but it still feels so good.....mem o r i e s of my old Chicago buddies ...Bernie, Bobby and David
To noozooroo, Michael Gilles'last fill on this song is enough to make anyone want to play drums.

Absolutely the best, you don't here much like it anymore.
How is "prominent drums" not an attribute for this song?

It's a song like this that makes me want to learn to play the drums.
This was the first "album" I owned, purchased primarily for the odd album cover. After listening to the songs many times, which I feel is essential to capturing what is being presented, I was awe-struck by the workmanship, the talent, and the insight. This song has it all, and after nearly 40 years, is just as impressive. I believe that "Timeless" is a fitting description of both the song and the album. Also a very grand look at Greg Lake before he became famous with ELP.
probably one of the greatest songs ever (or at the very least in the realm of progressive rock)
I heard this song on the radio when I was 11 or 12 years old, right around the time my sister gave me a copy of the first Pink Floyd album. Fripp's majestic Mellotron and Pete Sinfield's lyrics started a wonderful, musical journey for me.
This is one of the songs which I only heard on the radio at 3am in the morning ,back in the early 70s. Had to get the album .and never went back to Amplitude Modulation radio.
Greg Lake bass guitar and vocals before ELP.

Epic.
