Kotipelto

Kotipelto is the brainchild of a vocalist/songwriter Timo Kotipelto, best known as the frontman for the popular Finnish metal outfit Stratovarius. Kotipelto specializes in majestic/melodic Euro-power metal in the Iron Maiden tradition, with lyrics often centering on ancient Egyptian themes. Kotipelto's first release, Waiting for the Dawn, came out in 2002 via Century Media in the United States during a hiatus in activity for Stratovarius. The album featured an all-star lineup of progressive/power metal musicians, including bassist Jari Kainulainen (Stratovarius); guitarists Michael Romeo (Symphony X), Roland Grapow (formerly of Helloween), and Sami Virtanen (Warmen); keyboardists Janne Warman (Children of Bodom, Warmen) and Mikko Harkin (Sonata Arctica); and drummers Mirka Rantanen (Tunnel Vision) and Gas (HIM). While the band's style of music is still largely out of fashion in the U.S. (even if it does have its share of die-hard followers), Kotipelto has been commercially well-received in their native Finland, landing themselves in the Finnish Top Ten singles chart with songs such as Waiting for the Dawn's "Beginning." ~ William York, Rovi

HAHAHA I think the comment; 5FDP IS GOOD might be the funniest thing I have ever read. Although later today when I think back on it, it might be the saddest thing I ever read.
Nothing against American metal but most of the radio metal is so lame! All the great American metal bands don't get the play they should so American radio sucks!
Actually 5fdp has only three to four good songs other than that they are pretty bad. Their singer is horrible and the general sound of their music is all the same.
Keyboardist of children of bodom rules. Kotipelto knows how to choose
HOW DARE PEOPLE INSULT AMERICAN METAL 5FDP IS GOOD though they were better back in 2007 with Way of the Fist
that is the album cover art,i know i own the disc.
I like the album cover art :0

Great band. Better then his other band Stratovarius .
The best metal has always been underground, up until 'Priest, 'Maiden, and later Metallica it wasn't a mainstream genre. While it seems to me metal is dying out in America now with the introduction Alternative( b a r f ) and the Death Metal scene dwindling and breaking into countless subgenres, it's still huge over seas. In my opinion if you want good newer metal thats where you should look, but to fans of hip hop and alternative, its more of a throwback.
Modern American metal is NOT terrible. Just what is found in the mainstram is. You just have to know where to find good American metal. If you don't know any then you aren't looking very hard.
Whoah, extremely incorrect (and yet welcome) cover artwork they suddenly have up for this. That's an AFM compilation album that Kotipelto just happens to have a song on, not a Kotipelto album cover Pandora - you can tell because it has way more nudity (and says "Heart breakers on it).
What America passes off as metal is broadly terrible these days - but then is it at all surprising that something like Nu Metal is bad when it's spelled like that?

Anyhow, just encountered this today, quite like it, onto awesome list it goes, etc.
Anyone know what the instrument in the intro to Serenity is? Or is it just a guitar sounding really cool?

Awesome band btw! Love this music, thanks Pandora!
U.S. music does suck (generally speaking). I go scandinavian , dutch, german, and scottish all the way man

Just found this band via similarities with Concerto Moon, which I found on accident somehow. I love it, some fast heavy speed that I enjoy, great for any of those times I need something a little more intense.

The instrumental i s t s are fantastic, but i really feel like the singer's voice just doesn't blend in at all. its a shame cuz i really like this band otherwise
