Formed in the early years of the 21st century by guitarist Chris Siemons, bassist Frank Stumvoll, and drummer S.C. Kuschnerus, Krypteria were originally formed as a musical theater studio project with a selection of rotating vocalists. One of these singers was Ji-In Cho, who added her part to the track "Liberatio" on 2003's Krypteria. When the song was chosen by a German television station to be included in a benefit for hurricane victims, the trio decided to add Cho as a permanent member of the band. Their debut full-length as a four-piece, In Medias Res, came out in 2005, followed by heavy touring and the release of Bloodangel's Cry two years later. ~ Marisa Brown, Rovi
Disagreeing with the last comment, I love the singer. This band is DEFINITLEY going on my MP3 player. That's quite an accomplishment, as I currently only have 1 Gb of storage and I'm used to at least 8. Worth every second of listening.
I agree with pretty muh all of these comments here. The music is very good, but the singer's voice annoys me to no end. There are plenty of bands that play the same kind of music but with a singer I can't get enough of, so I see no reason to settle for this. All that aside, I really like The Promise. The chorus was good enough to make me listen until I got used to the singer.

Btw, she's a Korean-German singer. This band is from Germany, so I expect her to have a little bit of an accent. Kudos for them singing in English!!

I love Krypteria and I feel her voice goes VERY well with the band. Listen to more of her songs from her cds then decide. :D
i feel like her voice doesnt go w the music, i hate to say it but her voice makes me cringe, she sings well but its not my taste, the music and back up singers sound good
On one of the songs i was about to hit thumbs down, but then she hit a rare spot where i could REALLY understand her, it was gone in a few seconds though, the music overall was good.
Yeah, nasally voices are so hard to listen to. The music's fantastic, though! And the background singers are great, too.

I love the music and lyrics in this band but I just can't force myself to listen to their singer. Her voice is good enough that if she could just avoid singing through her nose this would probably be one of my new favorite bands.
Awesome music, but her voice is so nasal I almost can't listen to it. It's a shame because she has a beautiful tone, but she completely wrecks it because she sings through her nose.
Touche! this is a great mix of Japanese Metal (J-METAL) and Epica (Symphonic Metal) i love how the tones are damp and not to clean in the song "Out OF Tears" giving that heavy metal grunge gore feel, great band!
Ouch, I SO hate the voice! Listening to Out of Tears (didn't know the band before) and I think it lacks a lot of dynamics... I won't listen to them anymore for sure! It's the first time I get that "ugly" feeling about a singer's voice O_o
I have trouble calling bands symphonic metal if their music doesnt contain any symphonic qualities, Equally - I am not comfortable callin any band that sounds 'vaguely dark' as gothic. Its almost like just because they have a female singer - they cant be possibly be just a straight up metal band, or just a lame one.
@Zoli: Yeah, that's my biggest quibble about Krypteria as well - on the songs where she's using a rapid-fire delivery and not holding out notes for extended lengths the nasal quality to her voice isn't quite so prominent, but she's definitely nasal. Fortunately the rest of the ensemble makes up for that.
ya.. the song is amazing, other than the vocalists nasally voise...

I think you guys are taking syntax too seriously and should just listen to your music. Which, if you're listening to this, is pretty good. Just saying.
there is no true mixture it's either goth or emo. goth is a way of life and an internal attitude while emo is a bunch of half assed cry baby fakers who are more concerned with their woe is me outward apperance.
Also, once again, emo and goth are different types of people and genres of music. So, from this and all your other posts, all I have to say is fail troll is fail.
I would take your comment more seriously if a)you hadn't made several comments about this artist in the past, b)if the album art actually featured all of the band members, and c)if you could spell Casper correctly. You're funny, Willow.

The guitars, bass, and drums are perfect, but the vocals become annoying to me. :/
You will all laugh at me, but when I heard of this band? I was just on "You Tube" listening to a Sailor Moon tribute that featured the song "Concordia". I instantly fell in love with the song.
i heard of these guys a long time ago (on my enya station, no less. :P) and it took me forever to find them again. i am not going to forget their name again!
There are a few bands where I would rather have the physical CD, but mostly electronic is the way to go.
I bought my dad a record player that can burn his massive record collection to his computer. My mom got all excited he was "going to finally get rid of all those records." He told her that just because he was putting them on the PC doesn't mean he's going to lose the records. Too bad for her, lol!
I got it as an MP3 album from Amazon (they have it for $8). I pretty much always buy my albums electronically as MP3s, purchasing physical albums is my last resort if there isn't any digital copy available. The price difference is fairly dramatic - digital copies tend to run at least $4 cheaper than an album, and that's for the readily available ones. Imports might be $20 cheaper!
I picked up a copy of Bloodangel's Cry yesterday and currently have it blasting in my car. I don't think there are any songs on the album that I don't like, though Lachoneus has a point with the sometimes nasal vocal delivery. The rest of the song tends to balance that out though.

Well I like her but she isn't my favorite .
But I wish pandora would get the other albums.
@Verbal: funny story!

Album liners are just not worth that to me, heh.
