Alternative rock band from Mexico City formed in 1995 by ex-Sangre Azteca guitarist José Manuel Aguilera and bassist Federico Fong, playing along with invited drummer Alfonso André and chorist Cecilia Toussaint. Inspired by bands such as King Crimson and Radiohead and looking for its own identity, la Barranca recorded their first album after getting a proposal from a small label called Opción Sonica in 1996. El Fuego de la Noche was followed by 1998's La Tempestad, released by BMG. After signing up to Universal's associate label Manicomio, the band presented its third album at Mexico City's Hard Rock Live in September 2000. Get more CD's from La Barranca! Their front man is, in my opinion, the best songwriter in the (perhaps not only spanish speaking) rock scene.
