I feel like I would have to think of Fontine's story whenever the chips are down. I love her spirit and the fact that her only driving force was her child.
poor Fantine, I feel like it is through her story where the tragedy of Les Mis really begins
One of the best songs from this musical. Still a sad song, I can't be
I life is so terrible

I love les mis
Never knew what the big deal was about Ann Hathaway, then I saw her sing this song in the movie and I melted. Her performance and Jennifer Hudson in dream girls , I'm not leaving best vocal performances I've ever seen in a movie
poor Fantine, why does she to need to suffer as much as she did? I feel so bad for her. I loved how at the end of her life, Jean Valjean agreed to care for her child. That part is what really helps improve the plot.
My talented sung I dreamed A dream
Motion picture movie this Is my faves
Played young cosset saw Christmas

I only heard this song after Susan.Boyle sang it. Its a good song. Susan sings it good and others do sing it good too.
Katniss, that really depends if you are talking about about the show or the movie. In the show it is before, in the movie, it is after.
Jacobdhapiro 9 4 , I disagree with you on that statement! Anne Hathaway was one of the main standouts. I could easily tell what she was going through especially during this song. The movie version leaves me to teats every time.

Susan Boyle has done a fabulous with this song. She has an innocent yet tremendous voice. She pulled me into this song from the first time I heard her. Another person who won me over was Claire Berger. Hearing these two sing made me truly love this song. Great composition! ! ! !

Very emotional and sad. FANTINE pulls you into this song and you must listen to her story. It is very gut wrenching but powerful because FANTINE could be anyone.
DerpyHooves are you serious about that statement, Anne Hathaway was aweful and your comparing her patty lupone...
Didnt she sing this right after she was raped? I have no idea I dont remember
Anne Hathaway did this much better. Whoever the hay this is, she sounds bored
semajf
PATTI LUPONE AT HER FINEST!!!! BRAVO!!!!!!
I love the movie very inspirationa l

Not finished with the movie yet, but might watch it again, ERRR wait Redbox dvd's won't allow that
Such a powerful song its on point! :)
You obviously haven't seen the girl who did it for the 10th anniversary. She is the best Fantine the world will ever see.
cebrent5
@dancergirl, I agree. She puts more emotion in it, and by the end she was crying.
Personally I like Anne Hathaway's version better.
I love this song
I love this song, but I wish she would be more emotional. It sounds like she's bored with it.
Most of you must really like this movie
Nobody wants to see this with me :(
This song touches me in more ways than one. Anyone who played the part of Fantine is lucky. I believe Fantine is a huge part in the movie. Without Fantine this song would not have existed. Without Fantine there would be no Cosette. Fantine has a very important part of this story.
Shut up jodisatin i loved the movie!
preciousgirl s c l u b k i l e y
I completely disagree with jodisatin.
Tom Hooper wanted to interpret les mis differently. Anne Hathaway was so emotional, I could feel her pain. I cried when she died.
Patty Lupone rocks this song. Lea Salonga NEVER sang the role of Fantine
I'm not a big fan of salonga either I only like when Anne Hathaway
I don't like the way the girl sounded when she sung this song
This is also a good movie. I love Les Mis
I love this song!! It doesn't matter who sings it, just enjoy it
Hathaway made me feel the way the song was supposed to make you feel.
Don't get me wrong. I adored the 25th Anniversary. I'm just not as big of a fan of Salonga as everybody seems to be. And also, at least Anne Hathaway cut her hair. It was her idea to actually do it for the movie. I was really disappointed when Salonga didn't.
I thought Anne Hathaway did beautifully. It may have not sounded like perfection but it wasn't supposed to. Hathaway even stated herself on a featurette of the live singing that it was selfish to do the "pretty version" of the song. Her character is not perfect. It still sounded fantastic and for the record, it was loads more emotional than Lea Salonga. I know everybody loves her, but quite frankly, at the beginning of her song she is way too choppy and Anne Hathaway made me feel the way the son

I agree with Jodisatin. I would have liked to have heard someone sing this song rather than cry it. Maybe that could have been Anne Hathaway, had she been directed to do that. Russell Crowe didn't bother me as much as Anne Hathaway and Amanda Seyfried. Though Hugh Jackman, Eddie Redmayne, Aaron Tveit, Samantha Barks, Daniel Huttlestone, and all of the guys at the barracade, were wonderful!
jodisatin
Saw the movie last night! Anne Hathaway butchered it. And whoever cast Russell Crowe and Amanda Seyfried missed the mark completely. Still a great movie, but man were some of the voices awful!
I love this song so much! I cannot wait to see the movie version of this stage musical Christmas day! So excited! :)
I am soooo pumped to see the movie! The preview makes me cry every time! I must say I like the preview with One Day More rather than I Dreamed A Dream better!
Excited about the movie. I still need to see this show.
I love the way Anne Hathaway sings this song! As soon as I heard her voice I needed to hear more of it. <3 <3 <3
Sounds like Anne Hathaway may give them all a run for their money with this song.
I always want to cry when I hear this song :'(
Who realy sing this song now?
Most heard song of this epic play. I LOVE IT!!!!!!!!!! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! !
Seriously awesome.

Lea Salonga sings this song better.
