Louis

Singer, songwriter, and musician Louis Schefano grew up in Birmingham, AL. He appeared on the self-titled debut album by Remy Zero in 1996, then spent some time with Verbena before moving on to Little Red Rocket, serving as drummer in the band led by Orenda Fink and Maria Taylor, and contributing not only drums, but also guitar, piano, and background and harmony vocals to the group's debut album, Who Did You Pay (1997); he also had writing credits on four songs on the disc. He drummed on the second album, It's in the Sound (2000), even though the original lineup had split by that time. (Maria Taylor later recorded songs of his on her albums 11:11 and Lynn Teeter Flower.) After leaving Little Red Rocket, he launched his own project, Regia, which recorded the album The Art of Navigation (1999), for which he wrote all 12 songs and served as singer, drummer, guitarist, keyboard player, producer, mixer, and photographer. (The Minders later covered "Same Time, Same Place" from the collection on their It's a Bright Guilty World album.) After relocating to Brooklyn, NY, Schefano recorded an EP, Freak Show Revenge, using the name Louis. After gaining attention as a self-released demo, the disc was reconfigured for release by Superphonic Records on March 6, 2007. ~ William Ruhlmann, Rovi

Personally, I think the voice sounds more like Pedro the Lion. At first glance, I thought this was just Louis XIV. Same softness too.

Fantastic song, those great melodies not to mention beats and words don't deserve the deadpan and kinda whiney vocals.

I was checking in here b/c I thought this song sounded just like GrandDaddy and was curious if it was the same singer. I see others had the same thought though it doesn't look like it's the same guy. Right?

Brent, and anyone else who thinks there's no info... Click the album name above the comments here. The "Freak Show Revenge" link. It gives info! :)

"Louis Schefano, whose credits include a series of indie bands including Remy Zero, Verbena, and Little Red Rocket, as well as his own nom de group, Regia, here almost comes clean by crediting an EP to Louis. It's a concise set of somewhat monotonic folk-pop, with the...."

not enough room to paste the whole thing. just click it! :P

Yeah it sounds a lot like Jason From Grandaddy. Especially Grandaddy's older stuff. This song sounds pretty good (coming from a huge Grandaddy fan).

I agree. Whenever this song pop's up in my Pinback playlist I always stop to check who it is, and each time I say, "Louis? Who the heck is Louis?"
Plenty of information on Pandora about Loverboy, but when it comes to good music it's a barren landscape of really bad "similar artists".

More info!NICE!

I thought this was the singer from Grandaddy... AWESOME! Yes should be more info.

I love this guy/band as well. Very nice. I agree there should be more info on each artist. Maybe they should make the artist info into a wiki and then fans could add tidbits and the info would grow organically.
