Love/Hate

Heavy metal band Love/Hate was initially formed as Data Clan in 1984 by vocalist Jizzy Pearl, guitarist Jon E. Love, bassist Skid Rose and drummer Joey Gold. The band recorded one album before Pearl left to sing with L.A. Rocks; Data Clan replaced him with Jim Wilkinson and changed their name to Love/Hate. By 1987, however, Pearl returned and after playing around Los Angeles for a year, Love/Hate signed with Columbia.

The group's debut album Blackout in the Red Room was released in March 1990. Two singles from the album -- the title track and "Why Do You Think They Call It Dope?" -- received some airplay on commercial radio and MTV, but by 1992's Wasted in America, heavy metal had become commercially passé and Columbia dropped them soon after its release. Love/Hate moved to the Caliber label and released Let's Rumble in May 1994, an album much rawer than their previous material. Another label switch, to Mayhem Records, resulted in October 1995's I'm Not Happy. 1999 saw the release of Let's Eat. ~ John Bush, Rovi

@ bobonnit, you're clueless...a n d nice name, more like, dips**t!
This band sucks. Another group of losers who sounds like all the others in this category.
One of the coolest bands to come out of the 80's. Black Out In the Red Room is a classic, recommended listening for anyone who really wants to know what Love/Hate is about. Why Do You Think They Call It Dope is one of the coolest songs ever, in my opinion!!
Wow. I'm only seeing the reply to my comment now, 5/5/2012. Okay, well badman, I got a few of them on here by sending Pandora the actual CD and asking them to add it. They did both times, Ray West's APW and one other one, I forgot. I remember there were two. They need to add the Sea Hags on here as well.

MJ-i like yer style. And who do we have to orally satisfy-(or scream, comlp a i n , c r y to,etc),in order for Pandora to give us "Blackout in the Red Room" ? Really like this Pandora- but i may fall in Luv if they would humor us Love/Hate fans !
Amazing that they have "Let's Rumble" but no "Blackout in the Red Room". They do have TKO (who just came on) so that makes up for it to an extent.

Jizz writes a very interesting and humorous multi-chapte r novel-style bio on Love/Hate, I often found myself laughing and nodding my head. Other than Jizzy's (I've known him since his days with Joshua) incorrect account of the Dataclan days (he was never there, and I was), provides a very entertaining and largely true account of Rocker's trying to make it. But that's not the way it went down, not really. Funny thing though, when I first met Jizzy his name was Jim Wilkinson, maybe he forgot?
rick5359
So most of the bio you've seen published on Skid's website, and here on Pandora is total Bullshit. But I suppose that's creative license? It sure sounded good! Other than Wilky (Jizzy Pearl), these are all a bunch of guys from Palos Verdes, CA. When Jizzy came to the band, he took over lead singer duties from a guy named Johnny Love. When Johnny left Dataclan, the guitarist, Jon Workman adopted the name he always coveted.

If you're interested in what the REAL Johnny Love is doing, here's a couple of links to what he's been up to, here's "Velvet Tide" http://www.b o x . n e t / s h a r e d / k y h 0 o 4 2 a t f , and this is "Lonely" http://www.b o x . n e t / s h a r e d / 2 d s d 7 c 4 2 1 5 , from another part of his warped mind, and musical range.

I love Skid and Jizz, but they only wish they could write and play like the REAL Johnny Love.
Yes, where is Blackout in a Red Room?
mengland68
I expect to see "ROCK QUEEN", "WHY DO YOU THINK THEY CALL IT DOPE?", and "BLACKOUT IN THE RED ROOM" in my play list very soon or i shall disband and runto the competition! DO NOT LET ME DOWN PANDORA!

WHY ON GOD'S EVER LOVING EARTH CAN I NOT FIND ANY SONGS FROM "BLACK OUT IN THE RED ROOM?!"
The title cut to Blackout in the Red Room is a top notch, intense, screaming chunk of molten rock. Really one of the best of its era.
"I wish Blackout... was available on Pandora"
Tim, the founder of Pandora's a good guy. Drop your suggestion at Contact on here and suggest it. I agree with you. it belongs here, as does "I'm not Happy". I've never heard "Let's Eat". Is it any good? Any one?
I wish Blackout... was available on Pandora.
