American metalcore as it is know in the mid-2000s owes much to what was happening in Germany toward the end of the 1990s, when hardcore fans who had begun migrating toward heavy metal and grindcore started forming bands such as Caliban, Heaven Shall Burn, and Maroon. Hailing from the town of Nordhausen, Maroon first emerged in 1998 and, by 2001, had recorded a demo, a pair of split releases, and an EP entitled Captive in the Room of the Conspirator -- each to greater acclaim than the last. 2002 found vocalist Andre Moraweck, guitarists Sebastian Grund and Marc Zech, bassist Tom Eric Moraweck, and drummer Uwe Gruse recording their debut album, Antagonist, then touring with metal and hardcore bands alike (Napalm Death, Hatebreed, Agnostic Front, etc.) across Europe, and as far away as South America and Japan. Their second album, Endorsed by Hate, was recorded in 2004, and introduced new members Sebastian Rieche (guitar) and Nick Wachsmuth (drums). ~ Eduardo Rivadavia, Rovi
Don't worry, the dude down there with the metal-bashing comment likes PSY, Rhianna and Katy Perry. I wouldn't put too much stock in his opinions of music.

To add to the one below me, in reference to his comment on the one below him. If you don't like it then why are you listening to it? I'm sure there is some crap you consider music that I would disagree with also. Don't come here and bash our music. It's harmony in chaos and it sounds great to me!
At the person below me, first all why the hell are you even on here bashing on this kind of music if you hate it anyway?!. I For one love it, so next time you want to state your opinion don't be a hypocritical a**hole...because even though I probably wouldn't like what you listen to, I wouldn't be a dick and diss on you about it (-_-)
verbal-welcome to the politically correct side of america. it F@$king sucks. many stations are pressured into playing office friendly crap that is cycled way too often.
The Maroon you see here, its color is off...Wow, what a contrast, two totally different sounds mixed together in one mutant bio. A musical Frankenstein ' s monster of thrashing mayhem and crooning melodies. Pandora may want to fix this...it's alive! It's Alive!
HAHA!!, I just had this song play and read all the comments and laughed my azz off! I read and reread the band bio to make sure I wasn't F'd in the head! Good stuff...
Dear Fucktard-Who-Created-This-Page In addition to not confusing the jazz group Maroon with either The Maroons or Maroon 5, you should learn not to confuse them with the metalcore band Maroon. If I punched in Maroon and wound up with smoooooooth jazzzzzz I would be just as disappointed as the no-dicks who posted below.
The categorizing of this music as "Jazz" is not as far off as one might think. It's not the heaviness of the instruments and vocals as much as it is the syncopation.. yeah? Ya know? I was just talking about how The Locust is just super-heavy, excellent Jazz. I mean.. =M=

i also am listening to metal. it's good too. it's not jazz. i wonder who it really is?
