I like Miles Davis' music. I think it is good but not great. I can appreciate that he was a master musician and all that. But I just like other types of Jazz much better. And I do not like it when he just plays a stream of high notes to impress. But he was very important to jazz and music as a whole. Personally like Louis Armstrong much more. Louis had the bigger influence also. But then again that is like comparing two of the greatest teams ever. Both are so great it is almost a disser

I had the pleasure of seeing Miles perform once at the Masonic Temple in Detroit. He and his band played for what seemed liked hours. It was amazing. Suddenly and man walked from side stage up to Miles. Miles stopped playing, the man whispered into his ear and walked off stage. Miles stepped up to the mike and in a rough voice said, Won't let us play no mo. The lights came on, everyone started leaving the theater. I'll never forget that.
you are ignorant.
i don't like Miles Davis

Great music....... . . . . .

It can even be argued that jazz stopped evolving when Davis wasn't there to push it forward. wow, pretty powerful words. but an unspoken truth.
Miles Davis's actual bio is under Miles Davis quintet. You can get to it from this page.
OK guys/dolls --calm down!!!!-mis t a k e s get made-its only a damn biog that's messed up for Gods Sake (which we all know anyway) not the MUSIC!! They'll catch up & correct it--so rejoice meanwhile in free access to glorious stupendous music by Miles, Trane, Jarrett, Petersen, Desmond, Marsalis, Mulligan, Webster & fellow artists of genius. Sure mellows this rainy S.CA Sunday magnificentl y ! -or any other day!
Why is it that I click on Miles Davis and get a bio of Red Garland?
Where's the Bio?!

Wow!!!Miles on fire...
Miles is the man
nat-skywalke r
why does it show a picture of a white guy? Isn't Miles black?
a lot of people don't know this BUT!!! Miles Davis and Jimi Hendrix were close friends. Had it not been for Jimi Hendrix murder in the back of an EMT vehicle, Davis and Hendrix were going to record an album together. Now that would have been some fusion. So distraught by Hendrix's early death, that Davis rented an apartment across the street where Jimi and Davis would have recorded their music. While there he isolated himself, and suffered with grief, never leaving the apartment for 1 yr.
Miles Davis is the all time most dangerous man in music history, and ya'll f -up his bio? Yur crazy. He'll come stab you like he did his father when his dad rated him out to the cops! Herbie Handcock was so afraid of Davis when he heard that Miles wanted to talkto him, that he avoided him for almost a month before he was cornered in a bar by Davis, wence Davis told him that all he wanted was for him to join the band. Now you want to mess up that mans bio? no my god.

I just finished The Miles Davis Story from Netflix. Online of course. I love it when he is most true to the feel of the poetry and melody. Just me. J.

Hey I see there are 21 year olds listening and reading this stuff... Pandora I love you but when you mess up it hurts the whole historical culture...

Still seeing Gil Evans pic and bio.... WTF????
There are so many BAD trumpet players that were comtemporary with Miles; I do not line them up by number, only names such as Lee Morgan, Booker Little, Kenny Dorham, Fats Navarro, Clifford Brown, Dizzy Reece, Donald Byrd, Chet Baker, Woody Shaw, Dizzy Gillespie, Art Farmer, Clark Terry, and many more. I could go on and on, though I am a converted trumpet player who has played flute the last forty-six years. In addition, You cannot overlook the many local and regional trumpet players as well.
Sonny Rollins is playing, Miles is credits appears and it's Gil Evans Bio. Pandora your database is calling.
But the bio pic IS Miles Davis. He runs a bulldozer over at the landfill. I guess they got their Davises mixed up.
..STILL NEED TO FIX THE BIO PIC...PLEASE , P L E A S E !
jmreed441
Miles - second to only Clifford Brown, er, just behind Clifford Brown and Diz, make that behind Clifford Brown, Diz, and Louis Armstrong, I mean, well, he had a bigger impact than Al Hirt --
Miles Davis..he's his own .No one like him. He's a legend for sure.Another reason i listen to jazz.
jahrevels
Th roads you travel as Miles travails is....all within all, without time...Miles is everlasting within all there is. Right-on!, Mr.Davis.
houserini
Get it right folks, you have the picture & bio for Red Garland where you should have an IMMENSE write up for Miles!!! This man influence & change the direction of music. Give him his due!!
jeffery1810
HE is for sure a Giant...I think they are smoking Red Garland, but two months ago...? Who knows? Really remarkable player with such a broad spectrum of sounds. thanx, Miles....js
Two months ago posters wondered why Gil Evans's bio appeared here, and now we have Red Garland's. What are the Pandora people smoking? Sure, both figures were involved with Miles, but still.... Anyway, Miles is a giant in American music.
...why is Red Garland's profile under Miles Davis..?
Miles was arguably the most important musician of the last century. Not only did he change music, the band mates he schooled continued to change music after they left his employy: Zawinul, Shorter, Scofield, Stern, Corea, McLaughlin, Holland, Hancock, WIlliams, Carter....Th e mark of a true genius is leaving behind a legacy and never standing still. Miles never looked back...
Only Miles...
I'm 21 and I wasn't raised listening to Miles. I discovered him when I was 19 and now, here I am...
Miles in the early days was and is the grestest Jazz Man of all times.
fridasiam
He was called 'The Picasso of Jazz indeed!
