Influenced by cool jazz,'60s pop and classic film-soundtracks, the trip-hop duo Mono formed around vocalist Siobhan De Maré and producer Martin Virgo, a one-time member of Nellee Hooper's production team which worked on Massive Attack's seminal "Unfinished Sympathy" as well as Björk'sDebut. After Virgo hooked up with De Maré in mid-1996, the pair recorded the Life in Mono EP and signed to Mercury by the end of the year. After working on their debut album Formica Blues, Mono gained a comparatively high profile through an appearance on the soundtrack to the American film Great Expectations. Formica Blues was released in America in February 1998, six months after its British appearance. ~ John Bush, Rovi
Yeah... in the Now Playing frame it has the wrong bio: ''Japanese experimental group Mono came together in 2000... ''. Once you click on the band name, though, the correct bio pops up, ''Influenced by cool jazz,'60s pop and classic film-soundtracks...''

I don't know about sexy and passionate, but this song gives off a more bittersweet, melancholy vibe for me. Maybe it's the echoing reverb they've put into the vocals, but this always feels like the sort of song I'd hear in a mall someplace, walking around in a broken-hearted haze after a breakup...a memory song...so for me, I'm not feeling the sexy vibe. :P
LOVE LOVE N LOVE her vocal... HYPNOTIC is the only thing comes to my mind.... @ ENEMA: Thanks for suggesting the Violet Indiana ... same vocal...loving it...
I was very sad years ago, to find out this was the only album they made. I found out the hard way, that there is another band called Mono...bought the album...not the same band at all.
