I wish I was on mushrooms while listening to half this stuff. Man! I love old classic rock/singer song writers. Music today just sucks
Progressive bands have been generally loathed by the rock press (that is to say, Rolling Stone) for 40+ years, so it's unlikely the genre will be well represented in the RRHOF. The poor Moodies have become lite-pop PBS-fundrais e r fare, and bands such as Yes certainly aren't helping matters by continuing to grind away playing casinos with a tribute-band frontman. Sad.
@droth. Love the Moody Blues, but they did not invent the concept album. Guess who? Starts with a B.
Best band That always gets overlooked, Due to the time they were around. Being a 70s child. I loved them.

It is odd when you think about it that they are not in the R&R Hall. But would you believe that I recently looked up some ratings lists for both instrument specific performers and rock bands and was quite shocked to see that they didn't even crack the top 100. Time may just have past them by. Also how do you think Yes,Rush,Elp and others feel about being snubbed or do they even care since they are all multimillion a i r e s anyway.

Never gets old.
How can a band that has written some of the greatest music of all time. Invented the concept album and still going strong after 40 years not be in the rock and roll hall of fame.

He's only a' sleepin
Excellent psychedelic type of music!

The Moodys wrote this song about the ol' bugger long before he actually died (though it could be said that part of him had already died before '68).

Think back to a time you listened to this album with headphones, only stopping to flip the album over. What a sound and a feeling!
Anyone hear the tape of Timothy Leary coming back to Harvard to do a lecture with fellow Chem-head Richard Alpert (Ram Dass)? It's great!
Yes, Timothy Leary is dead, what an intense character. Still taking LSD regularly as part of what he believed to be a conduit to attaining higher levels of consciousnes s . 'Tis but one of many...
This fabulous, gorgeous music that has complex meaning and rich texture never fails to make my emotions fly so high. Thank you, thank you, THANK YOU, Moody Blues, for this wonderful, incredible music that leaves me thunderstruc k with awe and thrilled to my shoes 30 years after I first heard it at age 18.
So sixtys So Moodies So great!!!!!!! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! !
I love the Indian accented flute part
After nearly 40 years it still sounds great.
I believe it was an instrument similar to the mellotron ,called a Chamberlan ,or something close to that name.
I want to know what the heck they were using instrument wise to make the weird Indian accented organ-like sounds. I'm guessing a mellotron.

I must have a mellotron emulator.
NO,No,No,No ,He's outside looking in!
I think Timothy Leary is dead now.
