Moritz Moszkowski

August 23, 1854 - March 4, 1925
born in Breslau, Germany, composed during the Romantic period
Moritz Moszkowski (1854-1925) was a late Romantic pianist and composer who became one of the great virtuosi of his time. A child prodigy, Moszkowski embarked on a brilliant concert career, which included the 1875 premiere of his Piano Concerto as a piano duet with Franz Liszt. A nervous condition caused Moszkowski to reduce his performances and turn to teaching, conducting, and composing. His keyboard music was popular up to the beginning of the 20th century, but eventually fell out of favor by the 1920s. Despite living into the age of recordings, Moszkowski apparently left none. ~ Blair Sanderson, Rovi

So glad I have Pandora. This site has opened my appreciation for classical musicians/co m p o s e r s that were unknown to me. Thanks
Music doesn't know borders people have created for themselves.
The Etude No. 6 is my favorite song
I don't think anyone's missing the fact that the music is amazing. A composer's ethnic/relig i o u s identity/her i t a g e was certainly a topic for discussion in their own day, why not now? No one is identity-les s , every artist's character and ability is influenced their upbringing.

Beautiful music, too bad so many of you missed due to political correctness. Alas, are not even the classics sacred anymore ?
bobbro7- you spelled ignoramuses incorrectly.
Since when can you not identify a person by his heritage? Or is it just that pianists should be excluded?
Jewish or not, this man composed some good stuff.
Of course there is such thing as a Jewish pianist! Being Jewish, coming from that particular culture along with it's history of persecution affects the artist.. do you think it is just a side detail!?! Do you really think being Jewish is not an important detail in an artist's biography?
There is no such thing as a "Jewish" pianist. There are good pianists, lousy pianists, gre a t pianists, but pianists should not be classified as jewish, christian,mu s l i m , black, white, African, European, etc.
Please stick to your reviews and leave racism to ignoramissus .
