1962's Seek Ye the Lord and the following year's The Soul of the Caravans, the group's first two LPs for the Vee-Jay label, are compiled on this fine two-fer set featuring the incendiary vocals of Shirley Caesar. It's Caravans leader Albertina Walker, however, who most frequently commands the spotlight, taking over the first five tracks for solo performances; while Caesar chimes in with scorching originals including "Jesus Will Save," "One of These Old Days" and "I'm Going Thru'," Cassietta George also assumes control for typically elegant readings of "I'm Ready to Save the Lord," "Lord, Don't Leave Us Now" and "My Religion." ~ Jason Ankeny, All Music Guide
