Since he was a child star in Jamaica, Dennis Brown's golden voice has been among the island's most evocative and striking, regardless of lyrical content or musical setting. This mid-'80s album featured him doing gorgeous love ballads and probing message tracks with sensitive, laid-back production. Al Campbell joined him on "I've Got Your Number," a fine performance that saw both vocalists soaring and uniting on a convincing tune. This fell in the above-average category by Brown's standards, which meant that by most other singers' criteria, it was excellent despite the brevity (35 minutes). ~ Ron Wynn, All Music Guide
