About This Album
Contrary to the title of this EP, A Brief History isn't a compilation or a best-of from Rocky Votolato but rather a debut solo outing from this former Waxwing frontman. All seven songs provide a relaxing feel of country-folk that's fronted by Votolato's breathy vocals. Even if this debut can fall on the side of monotonous, A Brief History is a feel-good, whole-hearted slab of southern-fried indie that fans of Wilco could appreciate. ~ Mike DaRonco, All Music Guide
