Howard Wales, who is co-credited on this album, is a keyboard player, and Jerry Garcia's first non-Grateful Dead album release finds the two, along with such Garcia band stalwarts as drummer Bill Vitt and bassist John Kahn, playing exploratory instrumental music that touches on jazz and rock. Originally released in 1971 on Douglas Records, the album was reissued on CD on Grateful Dead Records in 1987 with two added tracks. ~ William Ruhlmann, All Music Guide
