My favorite album of all time. This is the first album I heard of NIN and I was only into rock at the time. I loved it immediately, just from the first words he spoke, "So impressed with all you do"

I first listened to this album when I was 17, right before the Fragility Tour in 2000 and was blown away and will forever be the album that changed my life the most. I am a huge fan of the great angst-ridden albums of the early 90's, but this album just stands out among any of those. It's so powerfully written, it's like a fine wine that just gets better and better as the years go on. A true masterpiece.

I kinda felt dissapointed with the Fragile at first, but after a while I grew to love the CD. It doesn't feel as extreme as The Downward Spirial or Broken, which makes it seem more human than most stuff NIN has done.

um...if you actually read what chris michael said, you'll see that he never said The Fragile was a breakthrough record... and PHM was not a breakthrough record anyway. NIN was at the height of their popularity in '94, thanks to their performance at Woodstock that year and to Closer being played on more radio stations than anyone can count.
That said, this CD is awesome, though not my favorite by NIN. It IS infused with the most emotion out of any of his CDs (maybe with the exception of Broken) |

Why does this album not have an official review? This is the one that solidified Reznor's stance as an artist, and deserves wider recognition than the totality of his remaining output, Downward Spiral and Ghosts included.

Agreed. this is the masterpiece. I am enjoying all the new ones as well but this definitely is the best album of all time.

Trent's best album so far. I love having NIN marathons, playing all of the albums in order and just tracing the musical progression as a whole. However, it is hard not to just pause at The Fragile and replay each song several times. I agree with you in that you can hear a new layer to the song every time you listen to it.

Definitely Trent's masterpiece. It's no wonder he took 5 years making it. The songs are so intricate and layered that they are different each time I listen to them. Bravo.
