Honey in the Horn/Our Man in New Orleans reissues and repackages two of Al Hirt's most popular albums for RCA. Part of this set comes from Honey in the Horn, a '60s pop album featuring a big Nashville sound and vocals by the Anita Kerr singers. The other half of the reissue comes from the original Our Man in New Orleans, which finds Hirt's regular band, supported by a big swing brass section, serving up Dixieland sounds with a twist. Though it's not the CD debut for these albums, the original covers and liner notes make it a wise choice for fans as well as novices to Hirt's style. ~ Heather Phares, All Music Guide
