Although not the quality of later efforts, Avalon's self-titled 1996 debut is definitely worth a listen. It starts out strong with the peppy "Give It Up" and joy-filled "This Love." The third track, "The Greatest Story," bears an earnest message about Christian life and love. Things start going a bit astray from there, with the notable exception of "My Jesus, I Love Thee." Their a cappella rendition of this classic hymn is sweet and true. ~ Melinda Hill, All Music Guide
