I have recorded the Beaux Arts Trio on multiple occasions and they are among the best in the world. This is a great recording that does sure the strings justice.
This is exquisite playing - more rubato and romantic in tone than the Emanuel Ax recording, particularly in the third movement (Poco Adagio) of the opus 65. Also the quality of the recording is superior to that of the Ax trio (on EMI, I believe). The cello has equal clarity as the violin, so you can hear the interplay between instruments much more effectively.
