About This Album
Apparently Burmese didn't get over the Whitehouse fixation heard on their 2003 power electronics tribute White, because titles like "Shut Your Mouth...I Paid for the Hour" and "Rapewar" certainly signal some residual hero worship. The vocal delivery has the same confrontational kick as William Bennett, but the music is from a different lineage of sonic brutality, a sludge-y, repetitive mess in the great tradition of the Melvins and Godheadsilo with a ferocity that also puts them in line with original punk noise surfers Void. At just over 20 minutes Men won't wear out its welcome, but is still sure to scare the neighbors. Recommended for anyone ever tempted to run with scissors or take candy from strangers. ~ Wade Kergan, All Music Guide
