About This Album
Roots rock fans will be drawn to You Already Know, the debut album from Oklahoma's Cardinal Trait. Absent of modern rock's distorted guitars, the group takes the same approach that groups like the Dave Matthews Band, Counting Crows, and Hootie & the Blowfish used to shift millions throughout the 1990s. Although they may have trouble finding a format in these segmented radio times, driving, melodic numbers like "Flashback" and "Nowhere Land" are immediately likable thanks to the distinct, resonant pipes of frontman Aaron Vaughn. If the emotive roots rock of "Something More" and the sugarcoated "Lately" seem a bit overdone, the decidedly pop feel of "So Called Friend" has the mojo to make Cardinal Trait a household name. ~ John D.
