as much as any single album, this redefined how personal you could get with your music. is there a better singer/songwriter album from that 2-3 years? and i know there are a lot of great ones.
This is one of the best albums of all time. I enjoyed this when it first came out, learned ALL the words to ALL of the songs and was certain I would be a star. When I hear it now, it makes me feel happy and I sing nice and loud. I love Carole King. Side note, what she did for "Little Eva" shows what a generous spirit she has. Most cool to nurture another person's talent.
This is one of the great, groundbreaki n g albums. We owe a lot to Carole King, she broke ground, took chances, and back then there were only a limited number of "our" albums each year. We waited for them, we bought all of them, and we memorized every note and lyric. I waited for the Stones, Beatles, Stevie, Joni, Laura N., Jefferson Airplane, Grateful Dead, Judy Collins, Lovin Spoonful, Bob Dylan...I waited for the music w such anticipation , and then as now, the music rarely lets me down...J
I remember my older sister. Carol King playing, incense burning. All the while writing letters in caligraphy; on old style parchment paper. Then melting sealing wax. Carefully sealing them with her large signet ring. What times...
