Live And Loud!!
About This Album
Alive and Loud is essentially a straightforward reissue of the 1987 Live and Loud album, less the Business' contributions to the show, but with the addition of one cut omitted from the original, the closing "Chip on My Shoulder." As such, it stands as a fair representation of C**k Sparrer circa 1987, a high energy rampage through the band's decade-old career that blisters with both wit and fire. "We Love You," their debut single, and a cover of the Clash's "White Riot" might stand as the most obvious points of entry for the neophyte, but it's the band's own originals that stand out the furthest, with the once-controversial "England Belongs to Me" an especially breathtaking moment. The sound quality is not as good as it could be, and there's more audience noise than the casual listener might be comfortable with. But crank it up as loud as you can and, for as long as it lasts, you could actually be in the same room as the band. And that's an experience everybody should share. ~ Dave Thompson, All Music Guide
