About This Album
This album gave the Count Basie Orchestra a rare chance to record an instrumental studio date in the late '60s. Arranger Sammy Nestico made his debut with Basie on this pleasant if unremarkable set of swingers and ballads. Tenors Eddie "Lockjaw" Davis and Eric Dixon (doubling on flute) are the standouts on this enjoyable session. ~ Scott Yanow, All Music Guide
