The hardest, most intense Detroit techno being produced outside of the Motor City appears on Archive One, Clarke's first album for Deconstruction and a compilation of sorts from previous singles. Though the downtempo first track and hip-hop flavor of the third start things off on what many of Clarke's fans would consider the wrong foot, the album stomps from the fourth track on -- and the inclusion of the A-sides of all three "Red" singles provides the best introduction to Clarke's crucial acid-techno fusion. ~ John Bush, All Music Guide
