About This Album
Continuing on his solo way, Glamour is a bit of a letdown after such a great first effort. Once again, Davies handles all the singing, songwriting, producing, and playing (except for drums) to great effect. However, the tunes he has chosen this time out sound more like they were projected for a Kinks product that never came about. "Is This the Only Way" rocks with the best of them, while "Telepathy" is more majestic in its scope. The strange thing here is the fact that none of these cuts caught on, even though the entire disc is solid. Davies would abandon his solo career after this and return to the Kinks, but he left behind two impressive albums well worth anyone's listen. ~ James Chrispell, All Music Guide
