Alive & Pickin'/Louisiana Man
About This Album
This two-fer CD combines Doug Kershaw's 1971 album Louisiana Man with Alive & Pickin', released four years later. Originally these LPs were released separately on Warner Brothers and had been out of print until being reissued in 2005 on Wounded Bird. The better set is Alive & Pickin' as the date is aptly named, showing off "The Raging Cajun"'s fiddle prowess and good humor. Louisiana Man consists of pleasant, lite country-pop with a few ballads, some traditional Cajun music, and a version of Bob Dylan's "Subterranean Homesick Blues." The autobiographical title track became a minor hit again; it had previously charted in 1961 when first recorded with brother Rusty Kershaw. ~ Al Campbell, All Music Guide
