About This Album
3 Ships is the Jon Anderson Christmas album, and it ought to be better than it is. You'd think with the choirboy earnestness of his voice, Anderson would be ideally suited to put some new life into the seasonal format. But he has brought his synthesizer with him (as well as several choruses), and he manages to overproduce both his original tunes and the traditional material, swamping them with sound effects and overly loud percussion tracks as though he were making a dance record. ~ William Ruhlmann, All Music Guide
