It's a movie about Odessa. They're originally from Midland. How are they selling out scoring a movie that is basically about what life was like in their hometown?
Stumbled upon this band on Austin City Limits and had an immediate reaction of "WHO IS THIS?!". My favorite band of the new millennium. I personally find this to be an extraordinary soundtrack which I will purchase thanks to Pandora.
Bromide, the music is still beautiful, even if it conjures up football for you... and seeing as how "The Office" only has one song, that soundtrack would be pretty hard to make.
By the way, Your Hand in Mine (Goodbye) is an amazing piece of music, and it turned me onto Explosions in the Sky, now one of my favorite bands.
this movie was not amazing but i have vertainly seen worse. nobody, on the other hand is a sellout for scoring a soundtrack or putting it on pandora. i did not know it was still cool to call people sellouts. i remember being in the punk scene 15 years ago. get over it.
From Punk Guy w/Stars: "Jesus, who'da thought that a cool band like EITS would score such a lame movie."
I heard that they did the movie because they are from Texas and the film takes place there...
I watched the movie just to see how they cut the music for it, and personally, I don't think they did EITS justice...They left out some of the best/most climactic parts of their pieces, IMO.
David torn is a part of the music project too. I don't think they offer the album at Pandora, but you should check out Splattercell, which is a project by David Torn. All of these guys like EITS and Sakamoto are fans of his work. I have owned Splattercell 3 times in my life and lent it away twice . . . never again. I am holding it close to my heart. And EITS is the Sheeeeit!
I watch the damned stupid a** television show in order to hear the f'ing music. I just figured out yesterday that it was Explosions in the Sky. I am all over this stuff now. Awesome instrumental group. Simply awesome.
Sometimes when you watch a show, the music has such impact, you hardly notice it, seems to mesh perfectly with the on screen drama. Moving, descriptive & emotional. Awesome soundtrack!
