One Way's two-fer of the Friends of Distinction's Grazin' and Highly Distinct captures the swinging pop-soul group at their prime. This, in fact, contains their greatest hits -- "Grazing in the Grass" and "Going in Circles" -- along with a lot of other songs that sound like that, including a fair number of covers. They pretty much sound like the Fifth Dimension without the depth of material, which means they're pretty tied to their times, and the uneven songs emphasize their genericness. Still, as a nostalgia trip, this lush, MOR soul can be pretty fun, provided you're willing to take a lot of pleasant chaff with the gems. ~ Stephen Thomas Erlewine, All Music Guide

I strongly disagree with the writer of this review. The Friends of Distinction was one of the most original groups to come along in the late 60'and early 70's. There vocal talent individually was outstanding. Songs #1-11 are all wonderful. They are miles ahead of the Fifth Dimension.
