Electric Bible: The New Testament
About This Album
Led by frontman Rick Sims, whose appearance and antics suggest a ribald hybrid of carnival barker and evangelical preacher, the Gaza Strippers have proven to be as equally dedicated and hardworking as Sims previous outfit, the Didjits, amassing a bulk of material in their first few years alone. Electric Bible -- the band's third foray into the revivalist rock idiom -- makes a six-song, European-only EP available to U.S. listeners for the first time, reissued with four additional tracks, including a wired-to-the-gills version of Elvis Costello's "Lipstick Vogue." Having also served as a mercenary with the Supersuckers in 1995 on The Sacrilicious Sounds Of, Sims knows his way around the guitar, the studio, and the stage. Electric Bible combines the catchy power pop of Cheap Trick with the untamed velocity and guitar gymnastics of latter-day punk rock & roll. ~ Patrick Kennedy, All Music Guide
