Appealing to a very specific audience (pre-teen girls), Girl Authority is a selection of popular songs (all originally performed by women, except for Smokey Robinson & the Miracles' "Shop Around") covered by young girls. Favorites like Madonna, Pat Benatar, Kelly Clarkson, and Christina Aguilera are all on the album, as well as the 2005 summertime hit "Pon de Replay" by Rihanna, and pop-country group SHeDAISY's "Don't Worry 'Bout a Thing," with the raunchier lyrics substituted for more age-appropriate ones. It's a kind of pre-teen mixtape, suitable for pajama-party singalongs that end in giggling pillow fights. ~ Marisa Brown, All Music Guide
