Let's Get Quiet Vol. 1
About This Album
Let's Get Quiet, Vol. 1, a brief but bounteous EP of four instrumentals, arrived in May 2005 from Mush. Its release anticipated Her Space Holiday's full-length from that year, Past Presents the Future; however, the textures of these songs are completely different. While Past Presents was a worthy follow-up to Young Machines -- all pristine beats and reflective vocals -- Let's Get Quiet presents measured, layered arrangements that push along on a central theme, like the swirling romance strings of the title track or "The Means Destroy the End." There also seems to be a subtle hip-hop influence in the rhythms, like in the work of Daedelus or Dabrye. Let's Get Quiet feels larger than it is, because imagery flashes inside its songs. ~ Johnny Loftus, All Music Guide
