About This Album
Homunculus lives and breathes exuberance on this album. With the band's use of keyboards, vocal harmonies, and clever lyrics, Homunculus recalls the work of Ben Folds Five and Steely Dan, but the group is more cheerful and less cynical than those artists. Songs like "Here and There," the album's strong opener, "Kitten's Got Claws," and "Deep South Beach" are pop/rock with easy-to-hum melodies and witty observations about love and life. And "Perfect Routine" is an amusing yet honest look at the perennial relationship breakup problem. From start to finish, Words is both a toe-tapper and thought-provoking. ~ Lynne Bronstein, All Music Guide
