When Hot Chip's 2004 LP finally reached America in late 2005 via Astralwerks, the label released this single for the outfit's 2006 album on the same day, just to be on the confusing side. Coming on Strong proved to a fun but ultimately flawed record, with the hip-hop snark and whinnying Prince impersonations outweighing attempts at really finishing the songs. But Joe Goddard and Alexis Taylor lock into something stronger with "Over and Over," its pulsing groove suggestive of old stuff (Liquid Liquid) and new (the Rapture, Who Made Who). ~ Johnny Loftus, All Music Guide
