About This Album
Falling on the cheery side of modern synth pop, the debut full-length from Iris is a prominent example of the progression of the style into the late '90s and early 2000s (it doesn't hurt that the duo has a youthful look and romantic lyrics). And although it borrows heavily from synth pioneers Depeche Mode and New Order, there's also an underlining trance backdrop that keeps the tempo from falling flat. "Saving Time" and "Annie, Would I Lie to You," the standout tracks, are chock full of melodic vocals and peppy synth arrangements. Consistently danceable, Disconnect does nothing but connect with your feet, making the album most appropriate for play in nightclubs everywhere. ~ Kenyon Hopkin, All Music Guide
