Originally conceived as a double-album project by composer Andrew Lloyd Webber back in the days of vinyl albums, the original version was a huge success, leading to stage shows and eventually this, the original motion picture soundtrack version of Webber's original score. The score is conducted here by André Previn with cast vocal support by Ted Neeley, Yvonne Elliman, and Carl Anderson.
