About This Album
In 1995, Jorge Drexler left Uruguay and a career as a doctor behind. He moved to Spain, invited by Joaquín Sabina. Vaiven, his third album, was the first recorded in Spain for Virgin. It included new songs along with others that were previously included on other albums. The song "Vaiven," for instance, was originally included on 1992's La Luz Que Sabe Robar, while "Tu Voyeur," and "Cerca del Mar" were featured on 1994's Radar. All of them were reworked for this album. Among the new songs, "Blanco y Negro" and "Zamba del Olvido" are two remarkable ones. Joaquín Sabina, Jorge Alvarez, and Luis Eduardo Aute are guests in a pretty even and strong album that paved the way for future releases. ~ Iván Adaime, All Music Guide
