Stereotype Be
About This Album
In the spring of 2001, Toby McKeehan, Kevin Max and Michael Tait of DC Talk released Solo. The EP aimed to introduce listeners to the trio as individuals, showcasing two songs from each of their upcoming solo releases. In July 2001, Michael Tait's project Empty was issued, followed by Kevin Max's Stereotype B in late August. Stereotype B, a much-anticipated album, combines pop, rock, and world music to create a versatile and intriguing project. Warranting multiple listening sessions, the release is intricately layered with detail and depth both musically and lyrically. Many may label Kmax as extravagant and eccentric, judging his perception and worldview as far too poetic and skewed. However, with this release he not only proclaims contentment in being the individual God created him to be, but proves to relate to the vulnerability and insecurities experienced by many. Songs include the techno rock, world music-influenced "Return of the Singer" and the pop alternative "I Don't Belong." ~ Ashleigh Kittle, All Music Guide
