I have a promotional copy of the 1st Larry Jon Wilson album from the mid 70s. Its awesome, funky and nothing like what Nashville was putting out at the time (or any other time). Its hard to imagine that CBS Records actually released it. I've been a fan ever since I first saw the film Heartworn Highways and would love to see Larry revisit some of that early material with a full band. That being said, this newest record is a little too singer/songw r i t e r for my taste, though reminiscent of Townes.
