Linkin Park originally called itself Hybrid Theory and has retained that phrase for the title of its debut album. The "hybrid" in question is one of rap and metal. The guitars and drums lock into standard thrash patterns, over which singer Chester Bennington and rapper Mike Shinoda alternate in furious expressions of rage and frustration. "One Step Closer," the track released to radio in advance of the album's release, is a typical effort, with lyrics like "Everything you say to me/Takes me one step closer to the edge/And I'm about to break." ~ William Ruhlmann, All Music Guide
total Faith No More rip off, difference being Linkin Park needs two guys to do what MIke Patton does by himself, and Linkin is way more commerical. If you really like this band do yourself a favor and listen FNM's albums from the 90s
i had this CD. i listened to it so much the damn thing stopped working. that or the player ran out of batteries.. to this day it's a mystery i have not solved.
linkin park was smart. minutes to midnight wasnt as good as the other two albums, but it was still well written, just a sound most of us dont liek as much. leaving us hungry for a better album. oh and i dont think bleached hair has anything to do with it. just my thoughts.
noticing a parallel: on hybrid theory and meteora, bennington's hair is bleached, music is good. once mtm comes out, bleached hair disappears, and they go way to mainstream and aren't as good as they could be.
Hybrid Theory is definitely their best album. Adjectives such as "epic" and "awesome" can describe every song, but words hardly do this album justice. Meteora is my second favorite. Only half of the songs from Minutes to Midnight are good, and only a few are truly awesome.
EVERY SINGLE FREAKING LINKIN PARK SONG IS AWESOME IN EVERY WAY SO SHUT UP!!! ...yeah, mike is better, but only because he's like part Japanese. Fort Minor Rocks!
This is and Meteora are what happen when you let Mike Shinoda write songs. You know what happens when you let Chester write songs? Minutes to Midnight. Please, dear God, give Mike the pen back.
