Everything about this album boils down to expectations. Released by the remaining members of Sublime, with ample help from friends and guest musicians, Right Back is a loose collection of jams, half-realized songs, and silly, in your face attitude. Getting back to expectations -- if you're looking for the kind of clever lyrics and ultra catchy melodies that Sublime frontman Brad Nowell was known for you're going to be deeply disappointed. However, even though the pop sheen is gone, the SoCal loose vibes and attitude remain throughout the album, aided by guest singers like Bad Brains' HR and dancehall star Barrington Levy. ~ Steve Kurutz, All Music Guide
yeah, very harsh review - this critic sucks in my opinion. trust me - if u like sublime u will like both cds from LBDA. they are a little different without Brad but surely in the same genre of music as sublime is and they are actually very similar in many ways (maybe b/c they have the same bass player and drummer - duh). i've added this to my collection of slightly stoopid and sublime cd's.
another horrible review...speaking as a long time fan of sublime, i couldn't stop listening to this album when it came out...it's too bad these guys only put out one other album.
