There have been too many international Lou Reed compilations, and this is one of the extraneous ones. Containing 17 tracks, it chronicles Reed's two sojourns at RCA, 1972-1976 and 1982-1986. That makes for less diversity than you might expect, since Reed isn't really a stylist, but it's also somewhat random. Still, some of Reed's catchiest material is here, from "Walk on the Wild Side" to "I Love You Suzanne," so this is a pop selection from an artist who isn't actually a pop star. ~ William Ruhlmann, All Music Guide
